BASIC FRENCH for Adults

BASIC SWAHILI for Adults

BASIC SWAHILI for Adults

Learn some basic grammar, vocabulary, and phrases while immersing yourself in French through literature, traditional songs, poems, and history. French will be spoken most of the class. 


Taught by Yvonne Nsabimana, a French Immersion certified Teacher and a native French speaker.

BASIC SWAHILI for Adults

BASIC SWAHILI for Adults

Learn the sounds of the Swahili alphabet, numbers, basic grammar, vocabulary,  Swahili culture, and traditional songs. Swahili, also known as Kiswahili, is the second spoken language after Arabic and a means of communication in Africa. 


Taught by Karani Namunyu, a native Swahili teacher from Kenya.

Wednesdays from 8-9 pm over ZOOM

AFRODANCE for Youth

AFRODANCE for Youth

Students will learn Afrodance movements from experienced teachers from Ngoma y'Africa Cultural Center.

Afrodance is a combination of energetic dance styles that originate in Africa. It will keep your student happy and healthy in addition to building their self-confidence. 

FOR all students, grades K-12. 

Cost: $15/CLASS OR $100/8 WEEKS.

WINTER Term : 02/03/2023 - 03/24/2023 (8 weeks)

JIFUNZA SWAHILI CLASS - TEACHER

Karani Namunyu

Karani is from Kenya where he worked in radio as a breakfast and political talk show host for 5 years prior to graduating in Broadcast Journalism-TV from BYU.

He joined NACC because the organization connects him to his roots back in the motherland as a Panafricanist. He feels spirits of his ancestors through drumming.

UJUZI YOUTH ARTS & CRAFTS - TEACHER

Annette Campbell

Annette Campbell is from Jamaica and has a Bachelor's degree in Social Work with an emphasis in photography, sculpture and art studies. She enjoys painting, drawing, taking pictures, and traveling. Her favorite quote: “Every child is an artist". The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up.”Pablo Picasso. 

JIFUNZA SWAHILI CLASS - TEACHER

Joy Richards

Joy Sitawa Richards is a Human Resources professional, BYU Adjunct Faculty for Swahili, and Coordinator for the Swahili Interpretation team with the LDS Church conferences. She immigrated from Kenya and graduated from BYU with a MPA degree. She loves being connected to her African roots and enjoys everything African.
